  • RumbaSlow and sensual. Often called the dance of love, and a favourite first dance.

  • Paso DobleA dramatic Spanish march, danced like a bullfight.

What is the difference between Latin and ballroom dance?

Latin (Rhythm) dances such as cha cha, rumba, samba, jive and paso doble are danced more in place, with hip action and open positions. Ballroom (Standard or Smooth) dances such as waltz, foxtrot, tango and quickstep travel around the floor in closed hold.

Salsa is a social Latin dance rather than one of the five competition Latin dances, but it shares a lot of the same rhythm and hip action. We teach both, and many students do both.

Most adults start with cha cha or rumba. They teach the timing, hip action and connection that every other Latin dance builds on.

No. Partners rotate in group classes, and in private lessons your coach dances with you.

Group classes are booked with a 5, 10 or 20 class pass, or included in a membership. Private lessons start at $140 + tax ($169 + tax with a head coach), and a $99 evaluation is the best start for experienced or competitive dancers.

Yes. Competitive students train privately with coaches who have competed at World and British level, usually on a Development or Performance Path.
